party guide: dinosaurs
when I (rhetorically) asked my soon to be three year old what type of party he wanted, his response was “DINOSOOOOOS” (pronounced DINO-SOS). now typically, my rule of thumb is that mama gets to pick the party themes —- cause, i said so. but, i had recently been seeing tons of cute (and not so cute) dino themed party items and so a wave of compromise came over me. let’s dino party!
let’s break it down
paper goods
mix + match! i like to incorporate some branded/themed items, but your best bet is to keep paper goods neutral so you can also use for future events. you’ll be spared the crate of past party themed odds and ends - no one needs a surplus of extra dino cups. you’re welcome.
Dino graphic plates 9” - these are great for meals (sandwiches, bbq, etc.)
Compostable small plates 6” - perfect for cake/snacks. love to mix + match paper goods and an eco-friendly option always wins.
Neon green beverage napkins - it’s the pop of green for me. simplify set-up and stick to one napkin type for kid parties.
16oz clear cups - i’m team clear cup because drink ware is one of those items you blow through at parties.
decor
this is where you can really lean into your theme, but also, don’t over do it. events of any kind can be very wasteful so I try and keep that in mind when sourcing items. so no - you don’t need table confetti cut outs that no one will see, and are a nightmare to clean up. rather than going over the top with decor, incorporate your theme into the food, activities, etc.
Balloon garland - this is my #1 decor recommendation. love the color palate here and that you can customize the length and blow up with a pump. heads up, this set only includes latex balloons.
Dino number foil balloon - such a cute, simply way to add a bit of customization. does not require helium, #winning
Dinosaur foil balloons - ok, good dino balloons were harder to find. why are some so creepy looking? the balloons included in this set are great sizes, will be great additions to the garland above, and yep - don’t require helium. i personally wouldn’t use the “roar” portion, but it’s nice to know it’s included and you
balloon pump - just buy it now and use for all future party needs. worth it!
Dino candle holder - perfect little cake topper! cute enough for a photo, and ideal price point for one-time use.
party food
i love incorporating the party theme into food+bev elements. i’ve found that this is not only a better use of $$$, but there is less waste. skip the streamers, put the effort into your party day spread.
for the dino party, and with my little guy in mind, i wanted to do a play on “cup of dirt”. what’s better than the old school, kid classic featuring pudding, cookie crumbles, and gummies!
compostable snack cups 4oz - the perfect dessert sized cup and the kraft elements tie into paper good recs above.
shovel spoons - love these for kid parties, such an easy way to add wow factor. these come in a 50pk which means you’ll likely get two parties of them.
dinosaur haribo gummies - on theme party gummies… add to cart!
not listed here, but to complete the cup of dirt set-up you’ll also need pudding and oreo crumbles. i’m not linking because that feels excessive, but didn’t want it to fall off your list.
party favors
incredibly controversial, but party favors are the worst. i don’t like buying or receiving them - they feel wasteful and forced. we showed up, bought a gift, celebrated you, please don’t send my kid home with a bag of candy and finger traps. we’ll dig (ha see what i did there) into that more another day.
all that being said… for those party favor loving peeps, we have you covered.
dino egg dig - we’ve been given these as favors before and the kids LOVE. even better, it keeps them busy for 5-15 minutes. ideal for the 2-6 year olds. these can get a little messy with the fossil dust, so encourage these to be opened post-party, in your own home. #ikyk.
we had so much fun putting this concept together — hope you love it! don’t forget to tag us (@heydaypartyco) so we can celebrate your heyparty magic.
xx,
